BIOGRAPHY

Anita Walsmit Sachs


Anita  was born in The Hague, the Netherlands, where she still lives, holding the prestigeous position of head of the Art department and scientific illustrator of the Nationaal Herbarium Nederland, part of the University of Leiden.

As part of her job, she organises exhibitions in the Netherlands and abroad, France and Belgium and the United Kingdom. Her work is held in, many private collections including the Hunt Institute of Botanical Documentation, and the New York State Museum, Albany USA.

Working in watercolour, oil, pen and ink. She is also tutor on the distance learning program of the Society of Botanical Artists in England.

Recently she founded the "Dutch Society of Botanical Artists".

Anita says that nature forms her source of inspiration, she has a great love for detail, expression of texture and symbolism.


Anita Walsmit Sachs-Jansen’s work has been selected for inclusion in The Highgrove Florilegium. This is presently being created under the umbrella of The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Foundation and will celebrate and record in a permanent way the Flora in the garden at Highgrove.


In 2007/2008 Anita orginised workshops in several Dutch musea; Teylers Museum in Haarlem,Stedelijk Museum de Lakenhal in Leiden, Museum het Rembrandthuis in Amsterdam.
